Mountain Safety and Conduct Guidelines at Marquette Mountain

Ensuring a Safe and Enjoyable Experience for All Guests

Upholding the Highest Standards of Safety and Responsibility

At Marquette Mountain, the well-being of our guests is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. To achieve this, we ask all visitors to adhere to the following safety guidelines and conduct standards.

Your Responsibility Code

We follow the National Ski Areas Association’s Responsibility Code, which outlines essential safety practices:

  1. Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
  2. People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
  3. Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
  4. Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
  5. You must prevent runaway equipment.
  6. Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
  7. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  8. You must know how and be able to load, ride, and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
  9. Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  10. If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.

Winter sports involve risk of serious injury or death. Your knowledge, decisions, and actions contribute to your safety and that of others. If you need help understanding the Code, please ask any ski area employee.

Terrain Park Safety

For those enjoying our terrain parks, please follow these additional guidelines:

Make a Plan:

Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use. Your speed, approach, and takeoff will directly affect your maneuvering and landing.

Easy Style It:

Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level. Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up.

Look Before You Leap

Before getting into freestyle terrain, observe all signage and warnings. Scope around the jumps first, not over them.

Respect Gets Respect:

Respect the terrain and others. One person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn and call your start.

Helmet Use

We strongly recommend wearing a helmet while skiing or snowboarding. Helmets can reduce the risk of certain injuries; however, they are not a substitute for safe behavior and personal awareness.

Lift Safety

Loading and Unloading:
Familiarize yourself with proper loading and unloading techniques. If you are unsure, please ask a lift attendant for assistance.

Riding:
Remain seated and secure during the lift ride. Do not engage in horseplay or distract others.

General Conduct

Respect Others:
Be courteous to fellow guests and staff. Inappropriate behavior, including excessive speed in slow zones, will not be tolerated.

Stay on Marked Trails:
Venturing off marked trails can be dangerous. Always stay within designated areas.

Report Incidents:
If you witness or are involved in an incident, report it to ski patrol or any staff member immediately.

Your safety is our priority. Please familiarize yourself with these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at Marquette Mountain.
