Marquette Mountain Resort is committed to creating a safe, fun, comfortable, family friendly and enjoyable experience for all our guests.

GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THE BELOW GUIDELINES AND SHOULD EXPECT AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE:

Guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior or activity to the nearest Manager on Duty, Bartender, Lift Operator, Ski Patrol Member or Guest Services Team Member. If you feel that our staff does not address any issue to your satisfaction, please request to speak with a Manager immediately. Your presence onsite is an implied consent for MMR to use your likeness for its publications and marketing purposes.

DISTURBANCES

All Marquette Mountain Resort (MMR) guests are expected to maintain legal, respectful and appropriate behavior at all times. Marquette Mountain Resort, LLC is a private company located on private property and management reserves the right to deny entry to or eject guests displaying illegal, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior subject to the sole discretion of MMR management. Guests who choose not to adhere to these provisions will be subject to ejection and ejected guests will not receive a refund for their tickets or passes or be compensated in any way.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Threatening MMR volunteers or staff while on or off our property, in person, by phone call, text, or other digital means including social media
  • Rambunctious or disorderly behavior in our facilities or on our property
  • Failure to maintain clean and tidy areas while eating and warming in or outside of facilities
  • Drunk, impaired and disorderly conduct
  • Fighting or challenging others to fight
  • Theft
  • Damage to MMR property, facility or image
  • Trespassing on MMR property
  • Interference of guests participating in MMR activities
  • Throwing, tossing or discharging any object, especially while riding aerial lifts
  • Jumping from or using aerial lifts inappropriately or in a unsafe manner
  • Using winter or summer park features in inappropriate or unsafe ways
  • Entering employee only or other restricted areas including: climbing lift towers and equipment, entering lift terminals and operator buildings, climbing on or entering snowmaking and grooming equipment and other heavy equipment
  • Using profanity and/or other offensive words (verbal or written)
  • Taunting or using offensive or discriminatory language against guests, staff members or volunteers of MMR
  • Entering/using MMR property without the correct ticket or pass
  • Disturbing other guests’ enjoyment of MMR activities
  • Indecent exposure of body parts
  • Failure to comply with directions given by MMR staff members or volunteers
  • Violating MMR rules, regulations, and security orders
  • Not following the tenants of the Skier and Rider Your Responsibility Code and the Mountain Biker’s Responsibility Code
  • Violating any local, state, or federal law

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Weapons of any kind (guns, knives, pepper spray) and any object that can be used to inflict bodily injury or disrupt activities
  • Any item that may be deemed potentially harmful
  • Outside alcohol of ANY kind
  • Drugs or illegal substances of ANY kind

Any violation of the Marquette Mountain Resort Guest Code of Conduct may result in a verbal or written warning, communication with parents or guardian if involving a minor, suspension or revocation of day or season pass without refund or compensation.

A season pass may be reinstated after one or all of these actions have been successfully undertaken:

  • An arranged meeting with management. If the season pass holder is a minor, parents/guardians must also meet with management
  • Complete volunteer hours of service

A meeting with management must be requested and scheduled.

Well-behaved dogs of our guests are allowed outside in our base area on a leash. Dogs (pet cats, pumas, wolves, coyotes, birds– you get the picture…) are not permitted in our buildings, on our lifts, or on the mountain trails.

We reserve the right to request the removal of any pet from our property for any reason.

We cannot permit guests or visitors to carry in food or beverages of any kind. Michigan Health Department and Liquor Control Commission rules do not allow outside food or beverages on or in our facilities including outdoor facilities.

Your condition, speed, balance, body movements, alignment, trajectory and maneuver difficulty will directly affect your desired outcome.

Know the intended use of the freestyle terrain you have chosen. For example, some features are intended to be used in a series with no stopping, others have stopping areas. Jump takeoffs are for jumping and rail takeoffs are for entering onto rails (not jumping to the side).

Your actions can take you out of balance and cause serious injury or death, no matter how the feature is designed or where you land. Land on your feet.

Transitions are changes in the shape and pitch of the snow or feature, or changes from one type of sliding surface to another. Transitions can be gentle or abrupt, and demand that users be alert and respond to them with accurate movements.

Know where to land. The sweet spot is between the “knuckle” and center of the landing zone. Even if you land on or near the sweet spot, you can still be seriously injured or die if your landing posture is incorrect.

Inverted maneuvers are not recommended.

Be aware that features change constantly due to snow conditions, weather, usage, grooming and time of day.

Read and obey all posted signs, instructions and warnings before using freestyle terrain.

Some resorts designate features as small, medium and large. Be aware these ratings are determined by size, not degree of difficulty, and are relative only to that resort.

  1. Make a Plan
    Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use. Your speed, approach and takeoff will directly affect your maneuvering and landing.
  2. Easy Style It
    Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level. Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up. Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air. Do not attempt any features unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely. Inverted aerials increase your risk of injury and are not recommended.
  3. Look Before You Leap
    Before getting into freestyle terrain, observe all signage and warnings. Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Use your first run as a warm-up run and to familiarize yourself with the terrain. Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day. Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary.
  4. Respect Gets Respect
    Respect the terrain and others. One person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn and call your start. Always clear the landing area quickly. Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features.

Winter season pass holders are provided the privilege of uphill access as follows:

From opening day through closing day, before the lifts open for the day and after 7am, season pass holders may skin or boot up on lookers far right of Rocket Run. They may ski or ride down Rocket or Cliff’s Ridge. Early season uphill access is ONLY available if Rocket is open to the public during normal operating hours. If Rocket or Cliff’s Ridge is closed pre-open access is prohibited.

Entry to the property is through the gate just west of the Tbar. Please park in the Tbar lot.

  1. Be vigilant when ascending. MMR conducts operations on the mountain and in the base area 24 hours a day. Many of these operations continue year-round. Snowcats, snowmobiles, trucks, ATVs, skiers, riders, other Uphill Access users, etc. may be encountered at any time. Keep as far away as possible from all machinery: grooming operations may occur at any time and on any trail, stay away; stay completely off trails that are in the process of being groomed. Do not, under any circumstances, move toward grooming operations; operators may not see you and thus it is extremely dangerous.
  2. Respect all closures, ropes, signs and warnings no matter what time of day or season. Uphill Access users may not enter any trails, slopes, or areas that have not been opened for the season or that are marked “Closed” for any period, as safety markings and pads may not be in place, and grooming, trail checks, construction, etc. may not be completed or may still be in progress and trees and limbs or other obstacles may be blocking terrain. If you are found ducking ropes and/or in closed areas, your access privileges may be revoked for the season.
  3. Keep to the designated routes while ascending and remain visible from above at all times.
  4. Access to all terrain parks is prohibited outside of normal operating hours, unless for an event authorized by MMR Management
  5. All Uphill Access users must abide by all MMR policies and rules, follow MMR employee directions and instructions, and all Michigan State laws.
  6. As an Uphill Access user, accessing the MMR before operating hours is at your own risk. If rescue or medical care or other assistance is required, if available, the response time may be limited and costs may be charged to you. Ski Patrol IS NOT on duty before operating hours.
  7. If traveling on the mountain in the early morning, in a whiteout, fog, or other conditions of low light and/or low visibility, fluorescent and/or reflective clothing visible from all directions is highly recommended to increase visibility, as well as a light source, such as a head lamp. It is your responsibility to avoid any vehicles and/or equipment also on the mountain.
  8. If your presence on MMR property presents a hazard or MMR’s staff believes that you are impeding any MMR operations, you may be directed to use a different location or to leave. You must follow any such direction.
  9. Wildlife may be encountered at any time on MMR property. Moose, bears, coyotes, wolves, etc. can be very dangerous. It is your responsibility to be aware of wildlife and keep your distance if encountered.
  10. If, as an Uphill Access user, you decide to leave MMR’s boundary, you are responsible for understanding the risks. You may not enter, leave, or re-enter MMR’s boundary by crossing any ropes, closed gates, closed signs, or other boundary markers.

Sledding is not permitted at MMR at any time on any section of the mountain. This applies to any type of device that can be used for sledding, including but not limited to: sleds, toboggans, tubes, saucers, shovels, pads, trays, etc.

The mission of our volunteer program is to create a pathway for our community to assist us in areas you are passionate about while also acknowledging and rewarding you for your passion and support of Marquette Mountain.

We also understand the cost of entry and participation in this sport we love. This program creates a way for our community to mitigate some of that cost and for us to make the mountain more accessible and inclusive.

Marquette Mountain allows for use of our bike trails when lift service is offered. Users must be aware of man made features, other riders/hikers, equipment, recent alterations and debris on the trails at all times. MMR and construction vehicles may be present on the service roads, trails, and ski runs. Marquette Mountain requires a valid Downhill Bike Park/hiking waiver and appropriate pass if you are accessing the property. Summer uphill travel must follow the marked, uphill route.

Marquette Mountain Resort is privately owned. Access to our land is restricted and requires signed waivers and passes. Those accessing our land without a signed waiver and purchased pass are trespassing. See our Private Property policy for further information.

The natural climbing wall on our property is currently closed. It is not maintained, inspected, or patrolled and as such is not provided for use by visitors and guests. Any and all use is trespassing.

Marquette Mountain Resort is private property. All users must have a pass to access the property, including, but not limited to skiing, boarding, mountain biking, and hiking. Those found trespassing may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual and aggregate basis.

Marquette Mountain will use reasonable measures to protect the security of your personal information. However, it is impossible for Marquette Mountain to guarantee that your data will be immune from malicious attack or compromise; as such, you should understand that the transmission of your personal data is always at your own risk.
