Skiers and Snowboarders to Take Flight During Marquette Mountain Resort’s Second Annual Carp River Rail Jam
Feats of skiing and snowboarding athleticism will be front and center – as well as up, down, sideways and some awe-inspiring positions – during the second annual Carp River Rail Jam at Marquette Mountain Resort after the opening ceremonies of the Meijer State Games of Michigan, Friday, Feb. 10, at about 8 p.m.
“The Carp River Rail Jam is a crowd favorite and a great way to kick-off the Meijer State Games of Michigan. Spectators last year were treated to some spectacular freestyle skiing and boarding,” said Marquette Mountain Resort Director Kaet Johnson. “We’re expecting this year’s event to elicit even more ‘oohs’ and ‘wows’ from the audience.”
A rail jam event features skiers and snowboarders performing jumps, spins, grabs and other tricks using pipes, rails, boxes and walls to launch from or otherwise assist in the acrobatics.
Skiers and snowboarders who want to participate in the Carp River Rail Jam, or compete in any Meijer State Games of Michigan events, can register at https://event.racereach.com/sgom-wg-mqt-skisnow/register. Spectator admission is free but those who want to watch from the mountain must purchase a lift ticket.
This is the second consecutive year Marquette Mountain Resort is hosting the Meijer State Games of Michigan. Sponsors of the Carp River Rail Jam include Marquette Mountain Resort, Travel Marquette, the Landmark Inn and WZMQ TV19.
