Hometown Ski Legend Jeannie Thoren to Be Inducted into U.P. Sports Hall of Fame
From earning her first season pass at Cliffs Ridge (now Marquette Mountain) to becoming one of the most influential figures in alpine skiing, Jeannie Thoren’s journey is nothing short of legendary. A champion for women in the sport, Thoren pioneered gender-specific ski equipment and reshaped the way the industry thinks about female athletes.
Now, the Marquette native is being honored once again—this time with her induction into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame on May 10 at the Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Michigan.
Thoren, already a member of both the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and the Colorado Snowsports Museum Hall of Fame, began her skiing career right here on our slopes. Her legacy continues to inspire skiers around the world—and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of her story.
