Marquette Mountain Resort Hosts 27th Annual Hornbogen Memorial Ski Race
For 27 consecutive years, Marquette Mountain Resort has proudly hosted the Hornbogen Memorial Ski Race—a premier skiing competition in the Midwest. Scheduled for March 8 and 9, this four-event race welcomes skiers of all ages and abilities while supporting the Francine Malindzak Scholarship Fund and the Marquette Mountain Racing Team.
Event Details
The Hornbogen Memorial Ski Race stands out in the region by offering a unique format that includes four distinct skiing disciplines:
- Downhill (March 9)
- Slalom (March 9)
- Giant Slalom (March 8)
- Super-Giant Slalom (March 8)
This combination makes the race one of the few, if not the only, events in the Midwest to feature such a comprehensive range of skiing challenges. Each daylong session begins at 9 a.m., ensuring ample time for competitors to demonstrate their skills.
Race Format and Prizes
Participants compete for first-, second-, and third-place medals in each age category for both male and female skiers. The overall winners in each division earn the distinguished honor of having their names inscribed on the coveted Golden Chair.
